Well it seems hardly possible that our new school is nearing completion. Although summer term finished for the staff and children, work has continued at a pace. All the finishing trades have been adding the finishing touches and the fittings have been going up the walls so that on completion and handover, the furniture, together with all the teaching resources, can be moved in to the new school.
As with all new buildings, there have been a number of issues or problems that have needed to be resolved. With the help of Paul our Facilities Manager, Rocket our IT contractor and Miss Davies of the Admin Team many of the issues have been quietly rectified and sensible solutions been put in place. However, we are not underestimating the considerable amount of work still to be completed to ensure the school is ready for business in the new term.
The children enjoyed an emotional last assembly at the end of the summer term when the Lady Mayoress watched the year six children perform their contemporary dance routine and all the children sang with great enthusiasm. The children presented their items to the Mayoress which they had prepared to be placed in a time capsule which is to be buried by the contractors when they demolish the old school.
We can be very proud that education will continue in our new building on the site of the three original schools that were built and opened in 1950; Castle View, Hill View and Hill Side (demolished in 1993).
Beacon View has served the children of Paulsgrove well over the decades and our new building will allow the governors, staff and children to continue the long tradition of preparing future generations to be proud citizens and ambassadors for this area.
