February 2019

As often happens with major projects, the new school building has fallen slightly behind but after a few weeks of little activity work has recommenced again in February. The building company, Elliott’s were focusing on the steel frame which forms one end of the building being erected in time for the delivery of the prefabricated models which form the other end of the structure. The schedule has changed for technical reasons and this now means the modules which are being prefabricated in Yorkshire will be installed first. This does work in our favour as the majority of the concrete pads supporting the modules have been completed. We are anticipating the first of the modules arriving on site in the third week of March.

The contractor has been working hard to keep us well informed and ensuring that the overall project delivery date will not be impacted. However, we must not forget the ‘beast from the east’ which hit us in March 2018 so we must keep our fingers crossed.

Anyone wishing to see plans of the new school please visit the reception area where plans and elevations are on permanent view.
