This half term, Year 3’s topic is Powerful Pharaohs and Magnificent Mummies.
This topic will give the children the opportunity to explore what life was like in Ancient Egypt.
To begin the unit, the children will become archaeologists who are called to Egypt to explore the tomb of Tutankhamun.
In preparation for the trip, they will be identifying where Egypt is. They will also investigate the climate and physical geography so that they know what kit and supplies to take on their trip.
Once there, the children will investigate the great pharaohs and answer the moral question of whether it is right to open up the tombs.
The children will investigate the rituals and religious aspects of life in Ancient Egypt and use this information to write postcards home. At the end of the unit, the children will briefly consider how Egypt has changed over time and compare life there today with what they have learned.
