In this PSHE and science based topic, the children will learn all about themselves and what makes them, them. They will learn the names of the body parts and their functions. They will find out about different types of families and write about their own. They will discover that we are all different and unique and that is what makes us special.
This learning will be supported by the exploration of the text ‘Dogger’ written by Shirley Hughes. Children will make predictions about the story and explore the different feelings of losing something special.
Our home learning for this half term is to create a memory box. This is to be filled with items that tell the story of them. They will show and explain these boxes to the class. We will use these boxes as a stimulus for our writing.
We also ask that you work with your child to create a family tree. We will use this in PSHE to discuss the different ways our families are made. We will focus on that even though our families may look different we all have people who are special to us.
