PSHE
Intent
At Beacon View Primary Academy, the intent of our PSHE curriculum is to enable our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We help our children understand how they are developing socially and personally, whilst also tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
Pupils at Beacon View Primary Academy are provided with opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities, appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society and are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth as they contribute to school life and the wider community.
Whole School Overview
Our bespoke PSHE curriculum adopts the new Statutory RSE guidance, which officially comes into force in September 2020.
There are overarching themes, which run across the whole school each half term. These themes are linked to our Beacon View 3Rs (responsibility, respect and resilience) and are not only taught in class, but are a key part of our weekly assemblies.
The RSE curriculum at Beacon View is taught in a way which is complementary to the wider ethos, values and principles of our school. It includes learning about the body, feelings, beliefs, relationships, rights and responsibilities and knowing how and when to ask for help if needed. It involves acquiring information, developing skills and forming positive beliefs, values and attitudes towards all members of the community.
**Important Update**
Parent Consultation for Relationship and Sex Education (RSE)
Our parent consultation on our RSE curriculum ran until Friday 23rd April.
All views from parents who responded to the consultation have been taken into consideration and parents will receive feedback shortly, if they haven't already. The nest stage of the consultation has now begun and the govenors will now be consulted. Once this process has finished, the final RSE curriculum will be published for everyone to see. Until then, these three documents provide any additional information you may want:
1) The letter to all parents
2) The Relationship and Sex Education Policy March 2021
3) Beacon View's PSHE Curriculum
