To deliver this curriculum, children receive a mixture of adult-led and child-led sessions.

Adult-led Sessions in Reception include:

• Daily Phonics teaching
• Daily Literacy & Mathematics teaching
  • The teaching of reading and writing
  • The teaching of the number system and number operations
• Child-led learning - ‘Playing to Learn’ - This is when children learn most effectively
  • The classrooms are set up to provide children access to all areas of learning during their Play to Learn time.
  • This enables children to apply the skills they have been taught by an adult independently.
